Stephen W. Kent, MD JD Medical Director
Dr. Kent has over 30 years’ experience practicing Emergency Medicine and 24 years’ experience practicing Occupational Medicine. He is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Occupational Medicine. He earned his medical degree from UTCHS in Memphis. He graduated from the Nashville School of Law in 2007 and is currently licensed to practice medicine and law in the State of Tennessee. Dr. Kent was the Medical Director of Clarksville Emergency Physicians and Clarksville Occupational Health Services. He is currently Medical Director of DoctorsCare, Montgomery County EMS and several companies in Montgomery County. He is the acting County Medical Examiner for Montgomery County.
Dr. Kent is an Aviation Medical Examiner (flight physicals), Medical Review Officer (MRO drug screen reviewer), Immigration Services Civil Surgeon (immigration physicals) and is on the State of Tennessee Medical Impairment Registry. He is a Certified Physician within the Certified Physician Program and he has many other certifications in his field of practice. Dr. Kent brings an enormous amount of experience in Ambulatory Care Medicine and Occupational Medicine to DoctorsCare. He has been with DoctorsCare since its opening on April 30, 2002! Truman Gartman, PA-C
Truman began his career as Chief Independent Hospital Corpsman for the U.S Navy and was stationed a various duty stations throughout the world providing care with the US Marine Corps both in the US as well as serving during multiple combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. After retiring from active duty in 2010, he attended the University of Washington MEDEX Physician Assistant program in Yakima, Washington. Upon graduation in 2012 he and his family moved to Jackson, NC, where he began working in Family practice in addition to seeing patients in urgent care. In 2015 he worked at the Traumatic Brain Injury clinic at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune providing care and rehabilitation for TBI patients. In 2017, Truman joined DoctorsCare and provides care to the residents of Clarksville and the surrounding areas. He is a DOT certified Medical Examiner. Truman is married and he and his wife have four children.
Christopher Peterson, PA-C
Chris recently retired from the military after 23 years of service. Previously he was an army medic and a laboratory technician and has been a Physician Assistant for the past 11 years. Chris is married with three children, one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law, and one grandson. Originally from Utah, Chris and his family have lived all over the United States but chose to retire here and make Tennessee their new home.
Cortney Bryant, PA-C
Cortney was born and raised here in Clarksville, TN. She graduated high school at the age of 16 and attended Austin Peay State University for her undergraduate degree in Biology. She finished in 3 years and completed a year of research in reproductive physiology while also acting as a teaching assistant for undergraduate anatomy and physiology before attending PA school. She attended PA school at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN and was practicing at the age of 22. She subsequently attended Lincoln Memorial University for her Doctorate of Medical Science with a focus in Emergency Medicine which she completed in 2019 and was awarded the Clinical Leader of the program. She typically enjoys Olympic Weightlifting in which she was a former national competitor and coach. She is a Volunteers fan and loves football and orange in the Fall. She recently moved back to a horse and small animal farm here in the area and enjoys farming in her free time. She has a passion for music and plays and sings live music with her father and fiance, a professional musician, frequently.
